The Postcard Collection
The last four years have been a whirlwind of activity. Both of my babies went off to college. One in our home state and the youngest child, 800 miles away. The transition of empty nesting has been difficult to say the least. Four years have passed, and still, the house feels so quiet without them. I’m aware that there are silver linings to everything, so at the new year, I began to channel my energy into doing more of the things I love. One of those things is traveling with my husband and our friends, and the other is crafting: specifically, knitting and hand-dyeing yarn. My first challenge was to figure out how to make these things happen on a larger scale. Next, I took a leap and here I am. 
When I started Bobble Brand Yarn, I wondered how I could incorporate my love of traveling with my love of hand-dyeing yarn. It sounded like a dream, but I was determined to make it my reality. Most of my creative inspiration comes when I’m outside in nature. A long walk in a new place. The lake, first thing in the morning, so calm it looks like glass. The first snow of the year. The way the sky looks just before a storm. And then I knew the direction I wanted to take.
I began to plan for what I call The Postcard Collection. In addition to the current signature colors that Bobble Brand offers, The Postcard Collection will offer variegated hand-dyed yarns that coordinate perfectly with the solid colors already available. These unique colorways will be reminiscent of my travels. I’ll be starting with my three favorite places, and then who knows where life will take me. I’m currently working on the state of Minnesota, bringing colors that will make you feel like you're relaxing by one of the state's 10,000 lakes. Next, I’m moving to my home state of Oklahoma, where I’m thinking of lakes surrounded by rolling hills and forests, rose rocks and redbuds, tallgrass and bright blue skies. And I’m super excited about our upcoming trip to California, a place my husband and I try to frequent. When I get back and start mixing dye, I’m sure it will be difficult to narrow down the color palette.
My hope is that you will try Bobble Brand’s beautiful colors, that the colors will take you on a journey, that the fibers will surround you with warmth, and that you will create a project that will last for years to come.
